Charcoal & Vermillion was founded in 2019 by Avismita and Debarshi, driven by their passion for contemporary storytelling. Their goal has always been to preserve every cherished wedding memory through the art of photography and cinematography. Avismita, born and raised in Malda, West Bengal, completed her schooling there before earning an post graduate degree in Geography from Calcutta in 2012. She initially pursued a career in education, working as a teacher at a reputed school in her hometown. However, seeking new challenges, she transitioned to the banking sector in 2015. With a strong inclination towards photography, Avismita began working as a lifestyle photographer for a leading Bengali magazine, where she explored the realms of people and fashion photography. Simultaneously, she freelanced in wedding photography for nearly a year, gaining valuable exposure and insights. These experiences laid the foundation for her entrepreneurial vision. In 2019, she co-founded Charcoal & Vermillion alongside her best friend and now her husband, Debarshi. Debarshi is an engineer by qualification and has been a software consultant. Since its inception, the duo has been dedicated to capturing timeless wedding moments, traveling across India to document diverse cultural celebrations with their artistic touch. With over six years in the wedding photography industry, they continue to innovate their style by blending street photography and photojournalism with the raw emotions and dramatic essence of weddings. Reflecting on their journey, they cherish their decision to leave behind conventional careers in pursuit of a creative dream. They firmly believe that those who dare to dream beyond societal norms are guided by a unique and divine plan. As photographers and visual storytellers, they seek to capture frames filled with emotions, sentiments, and unforgettable moments. Whenever time permits, they embark on travels to rejuvenate their minds, embracing the beauty of landscapes, cultures, and people across the globe. Their philosophy remains steadfast—the world around us is a canvas, and as storytellers, it is their mission to keep their eyes and viewfinders open to capture the most profound emotions and narratives.
